Marine Stones Marine stones are sedimentary rocks made up of marine mineral elements. These stones retain the cold. They are found on the seashore and used for their invigorating properties. Volcanic Stones Basalt is a volcanic rock that is formed by eruptive activity that is able to retain heat much longer than any other stone. Basalt stones have been used in massage for hundreds of years for their decongesting effect on muscular and nervous tension and their positive action on toxin elimination. Alternating Hot & Cold Stones The mer & sens method uses the decongesting action of heat followed by the astringent action of cold to stimulate tissue oxygenation and enhance the sensory experience of the treatment.
